Who owns the peptide SERPs? Twelve commercial queries, one hundred and twenty positions

PeptidesSEO ResearchPublished 2026-09-08Updated 2026-09-08

On 8 September 2026 we pulled the Google US top ten for twelve operator-facing commercial peptide queries. Vendor and supplier sites held 55 of the 120 positions, clinics 15, community sites 10, regulators and journals 4. The median page-one domain authority was 257 on a 1,000-point scale, 23 positions were held by domains under 150, and an AI Overview appeared on 11 of the 12 queries, citing vendors far more than editorial sites.

Why we ran it

Peptide companies ask us two things before anything else: can a vendor site rank at all, and how strong does it need to be. Tool volumes are unreliable in this category and the SERPs are moving, so we measured the SERPs directly.

Method

Twelve queries chosen to represent how buyers and clinic patients search for peptides commercially (supplier discovery, "for sale", compound names, reviews, "best companies", clinic discovery, therapy). Google organic results, United States, desktop, pulled live through the DataForSEO SERP API on 8 September 2026, top ten organic positions per query (120 rows, 75 unique domains). Domain authority from DataForSEO's backlinks rank (0 to 1,000; from our calibration on other builds, under 120 corresponds roughly to a DR under 20 and under 220 to a DR under 35). Domain type classified by a heuristic on domain name and result title and reviewed by hand. Queries: buy research peptides; research peptides for sale; bpc-157 peptide; best peptide companies; peptide company reviews; peptide clinic near me; peptide therapy; cagrilintide peptide; klow peptide; tesamorelin peptide buy; peptide supplier; peptides online.

What it means for a peptide company

  • Vendor sites rank. Nearly half of page one on commercial queries is other vendors, several of them at modest authority. The category is not walled off by publishers the way GLP-1 patient searches are (see our sister analysis on GLP-1SEO).
  • Authority still matters, but the bar is reachable. A quarter of page-one positions sit under 160. A focused link programme moves a vendor into that band within months.
  • AI Overviews are citing vendors. On 11 of 12 queries Google's own answer cited vendor pages. The documentation and research-use framing the answer engines look for is the same material buyers use to choose a supplier.
  • Review and "best company" queries run through Reddit and Trustpilot. Brand SERP work and third-party proof are part of the plan, not an afterthought.

Limitations

One day, one location, desktop only, twelve queries. Type classification is heuristic. Authority is a third-party estimate. We will re-run the sample quarterly and publish the deltas.
